Why is DIRECT MARKTEING or Network Marketing the wave of the future

Direct marketing simply means “no middle man”. ie: you’re not selling to a retailer or wholesaler. You’re selling direct to the consumer.

Direct marketing is a massively growing field. I think mainly because it’s sort of like this, a lot of startups have no budget at all. So they can’t hire employees. How do you hire any employees when you have on money right? You can’t.

So instead one option that a startup business has is they can begin their business as a network marketing company  (aka direct marketing). That way you can start getting independent distributors (aka employees) without needing any budget. As the direct marketers (downline, distributors, or rep’s) will attempt to earn their keep by making sales, and signups, rather than the company owner paying them a salary. Plus it gives the rep's the added benefit of no glass ceiling or restrictions on how fast they can grow within the company. They can climb the ranks as fast as they want. Rather than being stuck in the same position for years on end without any advancements.

Now think about this, this has sponned a huge revolution. Thousands and thousands of direct marketing companies popping up everywhere. Mainly because often they have very limited startup capital to work with. Their’s little to no budget to be hiring tons of people. And besides they have no proven business model yet so again they can’t hire anyone, hardly at all.

So that’s just one reason why the Direct marketing industry is well into the trillions already. And it’s growing year by year. Direct marketing is the sort of the wave of the future in a lot of ways. And their's a lot of critics obviously to this business model. But really there's no perfect system. Every business system has it's advantages and disadvantages. And MLM has some of it's own headaches obviously. But generally speaking it has a lot of upside as well.

Getting breifly back to the whole traditional employeed/employer business blueprint. Typically to get hired into a company at a decent position, the applicant would need to not only have a college degree in their field, but also typically they'd need to demonstrate that they have experience in the field. And then pass a rigorous interview process. So out of a 1000 applicants, just one gets the job. But doesn't really get the job per say. They only get a 3 month probationary period. They get "tried out". So that's a MASSIVE BURDEN on the individual who wants to "try this job". All the burden is on the employee. However, the advantage is that it does come with a guaranteed salary. But they have to show up 9-5, be able to perform well, etc etc etc. So it's a very stressful situation.

So with direct marketing my thought is this. You can literally get hired with "no education", no experience, no interview, and no probationary period. Typically you might pay 100 dollars for a distributor kit and "your in". Your part of a big company. And you now have the ability to start to earn a paycheck as well. Plus you can even set your own hours with no boss hovering over your shoulder demanding you perform and seeing how effective you are (or else you fired). Of course your sort of getting "tried out" as well, so the catch is no paycheck up front. And in some cases you might need to even buy a bit of product. Then if you work 40 hours a week, with a proven game plan, likely within a year or so you'll be doing okay. And likely within 3-5 years you could be doing extremely well as you start to build your downline.

So comparing the two scenarios there's pluses and minuses to both. But one has to consider a few key factors. To get through a college or university degree could cost easily 50,000 dollars (plus years of time to complete it, and time is money too). To get any experience on the job, that too takes years of time commitments. So all that just to qualify for an interview for a decent job. Now sure you can apply with no background but you simply stand no chance of getting the job because your competing against far most skilled people. So needing all that just to start "interviewing" (with no guarantee of a job). Compared to just paying say 100 to join something, maybe another 100 on some products. So say 200 dollars out of pocket up front, and YOUR IN! It's like night and day.

That's why I sort of think the work force is ever evolving and network marketing has a far lower barriers of entry compared to the traditional route of just trying to get job. Most people hate their jobs. Most people have their first heart attack on monday morning between the hours of 7am and 9am. So I just think that again, even though there is a lot of blow back against the mlm industry, you have to admit it does offer a lot of advantages as well for someone who wants to find a way to make a living outside of the traditional ways. I think that's why direct marketing has grown so dramatically over the last 50+ years.
